Title: | Dual pathology of corticobasal degeneration and Parkinson's disease in a patient with clinical features of progressive supranuclear palsy | Authors: | Patrikios, Peter Grimley, Rohan Burke, Chris Ng, Kenneth Tampiyappa, Anthony Mooney, Tomin Robertson, Thomas |
Issue Date: | 2011 | Source: | Nov-Dec 59, (6), 2011, p. 887-90 | Pages: | 887-90 | Journal: | Neurology India | Abstract: | Corticobasal degeneration and Parkinson's disease are pathologically distinct disorders with unique histological and biochemical features of a tauopathy and a-synucleinopathy respectively. We report the first case of co-occurrence of these pathologies in the same patient. Convergence of such distinctly separate neuropathology in the same brain highlights the need for extensive brain banking and further research in supporting the hypothesis that tauopathies and a-synucleinopathies might share common pathogenic mechanisms.Mooney TTampiyappa A | Type: | Article |
